• Action: Polymerizes (sets) in seconds upon contact with tissue

Precautions

Do Not Use Internally: Apply only to epidermal layers for surface wounds.

Avoid Moisture Contact: Do not use on infected wounds or near soaps and other basic substances, as these can cause an exothermic (heat-generating) reaction.

Ventilation: Use in a well-ventilated area to avoid breathing vapors.

First Aid: If it contacts skin, wipe it off. For eye contact, flush with water and seek immediate medical attention.

Thickened Product: Do not use if the adhesive appears thicker than water, as it may have partially polymerized.

Applications

Vetweld is a rapid-bonding tissue adhesive for veterinary use, that adheres wound edges together so natural healing can occur after procedures such as: Declaw, Dew claw removal, Laceration repair, Abrasion sealing, Suture/staple reinforcement, Tooth removal, Oral

surgeries.

Directions for Use

To use Vetweld, clean and dry the wound site, then attach the applicator to the bottle. Approximate the wound edges and apply a thin, continuous line of adhesive to one edge while holding the edges together. Hold the wound edges for a few seconds until the adhesive fully sets. Avoid internal use, deep wounds, and contact with skin, eyes, and instruments.

Before Application

  • Preparation: Thoroughly clean and dry the wound area.
  • Wound Type: Vetweld is for superficial wounds and small lacerations, not deep or infected wounds.
  • Applicator: Attach the flexible applicator tip to the bottle's spout.
  • Temperature: Ensure the product is at room temperature before use; do not heat it.

Application Steps

  • Approximate Edges: Gently press the edges of the wound together using sterile gloves or forceps.
  • Apply Adhesive: Apply a thin, continuous layer of Vetweld to the surface of one wound edge using the applicator.
  • Hold Edges: Maintain pressure on the wound edges for 5 to 10 seconds to allow the adhesive to polymerize.
  • Hold Position: Continue to hold the edges together until the adhesive sets and forms a waterproof seal.

Post-Application & Cautions

  • Setting Time: The adhesive polymerizes in seconds, but full polymerization may take longer.
  • Avoid Excess: Do not allow Vetweld to drip into a wound cavity.
  • Skin Contact: If skin bonds occur, carefully soak the area in warm water or soapy water to help loosen the adhesive, according to Pets Drug Mart.
  • Storage: After opening, do not return the bottle to the refrigerator; store it upright in a cool, dry place away from heat.
  • Monitoring: Regularly monitor the wound site for any signs of infection or irritation.
  • Consult a Vet: Seek veterinary advice if you have any concerns about the wound or the healing process,
